Bachelor DegreeBS - Bachelor of Science

Note

If a student is removed from EEC4940C - Internship Early Childhood by the hosting school or the program dean/manager, the student will be required to meet with the appropriate dean or program manager and develop an action plan for remediation. Remediation is mandatory and must be completed prior to another internship placement according to the College’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU’s) with all participating school districts. There will be no refund of tuition and fees or costs. However, students may appeal their tuition fees through the Dean of Education by following the procedures listed in Procedures for Academic and Non-Academic Appeals section of the College catalog.

Upon successful completion of the remediation plan, the student must re-apply for internship placement. However, the College cannot guarantee placement since the school district must approve all placements.

Background Check Requirement

All students are required to pass a background check in order to complete field experience and EEC4940C - Internship Early Childhood. Failure to pass the background check may result in the student being unable to complete the course and program. For the exact cost for the background checks, please refer to the Field Experience Guide, which is located in the Field Experience Canvas Learning Management shell.

The most common reasons for being denied entrance into PK-12 field experiences and the internship include:

  • Two or more misdemeanor charge dispositions resulting in pre-trial diversion, a guilty plea, a plea of nolo contendere, and/or withhold of adjudication.

  • Unresolved criminal charges.

  • Prior employment termination for unsatisfactory performance.

  • Prior employment terminations for cause.
