The Program

The Environmental Science Technician certificate responds to an emerging field that focuses on environmental issues, laboratory and field tests, and workplace safety. The skills taught include the handling, storage, transportation, and dispensing of hazardous materials in accordance with appropriate regulations and the planning for the protection of employees, workers, communities, and the environment from hazardous material exposure. Additionally, students will receive hands-on training in the analysis of air, water, soil, and the contaminants that are present. Students completing this certificate will be able to earn nationally recognized certifications.

All courses in this technical certificate are also included in the Environmental Science Technology (2166) (A.S.). Students have the option of applying all the coursework completed in this program toward an associate’s degree.
