The Career
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, overall employment of barbers is projected to increase 11 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations. The need for barbers and hairdressers will stem primarily from population growth, leading to greater demand for basic hair care services. In addition, an increased demand for hair coloring, hair straightening, and other advanced hair treatments is expected to continue over the projections decade.
Certification/Licensing
After successfully completing the program, students are qualified to take the barbering examination given by the Florida State Board of Barbers. Licensing and certification for immediate employment in the field are obtained by passing this examination.
