Description
This course offers students a comprehensive overview of key topics essential for the transition from student to practitioner. It covers the dynamics of professional relationships between Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) and other healthcare professionals, a review of ethical principles, licensing requirements, resource management skills, and strategies for navigating the job market. Additionally, students will develop job readiness skills, ranging from preparation for the National Certification Exam, resume writing and interview techniques to ongoing professional development post-employment. The course includes a discussion of strategies for overcoming challenges in the fieldwork setting, stress management, personal well-being and conflict resolution skills.

Conditions
Must be accepted into the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Must provide proof of CPR certification for Healthcare Providers Level and First Aid Certification through the American Heart Association prior to enrollment. This course is for students with an effective date of spring Term 2024 or future. Please see an advisor if your effective term is prior to this date.
