This course traces the history of the United States from the end of the Reconstruction Era to modern events. Topics will include but are not limited to the growth of big business and Federal power, the agrarian revolts, issues of civil and minority rights, and America's emergence as an actor on the world stage. Successful completion of this course satisfies the following Civic Literacy Competency Requirement: Prior to the award of an associate in arts or baccalaureate degree, first-time-in-college students entering a Florida College System institution in the 2018-2019 school year, and thereafter, must demonstrate competency in civic literacy (Florida Statute 1007.25, Section 4; State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.02413).
