Non-Degree Seeking

Mission/Purpose

The Adult Education - Academic Skills Building Mathematics program provides students with critical thinking skills to prepare them for College/Career Readiness and Success.  

The Program

The ASB Program is a non-credit program designed to develop the literacy and numeracy skills necessary for students to be successful workers, citizens, and family members. The Academic Skills Building (ASB) programs are offered for Mathematics and Reasoning through Language Arts. Students may enroll in coursework in either or both program options

Application Procedure

In order to enroll in the Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages program, students must:

  1. Be 16 years of age or older.
  2. May already have a high school diploma (by passing the GED® or by graduating from a K-12 High School or Adult High School) and have a goal of preparing for postsecondary education and employment (may not be enrolled in the K-12 educational system).
  3. Score within the EFL 5 and 6 of the ASB Reasoning Through Language Arts course as measured by FLDOE-approved assessments.

Graduation Requirements


In order to be awarded a certificate of completion, students must have met the following requirements.

  1. Fulfill all obligations, financial or otherwise, to the College before graduating.
Note: Students are cautioned to pay particular attention to the following statements.
  • A student’s graduation date will be the date of the end of the College term in which the student has fulfilled all academic requirements.
  • Students who enter under the (2023/2024) catalog will be assigned to the degree or certificate requirements in effect during the 2023/2024 academic year. The student’s assigned catalog year will remain in effect as long as the student maintains continuous enrollment. Changes to requirements as mandated by law or by rule of the District Board of Trustees and FLDOE may supersede this provision.
  • Many courses in this catalog have prerequisite requirements listed in the course descriptions. Students are advised to be guided by these requirements.
