DIM 0842 - Diesel Engine Performance

This course is designed to teach all areas of diesel engine performance, from theory to the diagnosis and repair of drivability problems. Topics covered include electrical and computer system operations, engine control systems, fuel systems, and emission systems. Students will gain knowledge of sensing devices, actuators, control modules, diagnosis and service using on-board diagnostics. This course requires an applied skills lab where students demonstrate the skills and competencies taught in the course. Lab times require students to perform heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time, research, reading, and the application of scientific methods as well as performing fundamental algebra computations while working in a physically demanding environment.
