SLS 1101 - College Academic Orientation

This course, designed for a student’s first term of enrollment, provides an orientation to academic life that develops knowledge and skills critical for transitioning to college and achieving long-term success.  The course explicitly introduces critical thinking as a core goal of higher education, assists students in clarifying their educational goals in this context, and presents strategies and resources that will promote a fruitful partnership between the student and the College. In doing so, the course aims to provide a practical transition to Florida State College at Jacksonville that will provide knowledge and skills that promote retention and success in other courses.
